Compression

Gas compression can be used to enhance production from a well or transport the gas to a long-haul pipeline (Exhibit 36). Service companies design, build and operate compressors, offer leasing and rental options, and provide service and parts for existing equipment.

Processing

When hydrocarbons are first produced from a well and before they are transported to market, they often require preliminary processing.

For oil wells, the oil may need to be separated from water or gas which it is mixed with naturally.

For natural gas wells, the gas may need to be separated from water and contaminants, like CO2 and hydrogen sulphide.

Pipelines

Pipelines are used to transport the produced hydrocarbons from the well to market. Service companies are involved in manufacturing, coating, installing, testing, and maintaining pipelines.
